Tomato Sauce Ingredients

  • 28 ounces San Marzano tomatoes (whole peeled)
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2–3 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh Italian flat-leaf parsley (minced)
  • 1 pinch chili flakes (optional)

Preparation Steps

  • In a medium bowl, crush the whole San Marzano tomatoes by hand until desired consistency is reached.
  • Add salt, oregano, olive oil, bay leaf, garlic, parsley, and chili flakes (if using). Mix well until combined.
  • Let the mixture sit for about 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  • Discard the bay leaf before using the sauce on your favorite pizza or other dishes.
