Ingredients
  

For the Sauce

  • 1 pound Ground Beef can be substituted with ground turkey
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) Crushed Tomatoes diced tomatoes can be used for a different texture
  • 0.5 cup Heavy Cream half-and-half can lighten it
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning fresh herbs can be used
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced garlic works in a pinch
  • 1 medium Onion shallots can be used
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

For the Pasta

  • 1 cup Orzo Pasta ditalini or penne can be used

For Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil can substitute with vegetable oil

For Garnish

  • Fresh Basil parsley can replace it
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese nutritional yeast can be a dairy-free option

Instructions
 

How to Make

  • In a large skillet, warm 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add 1 diced onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until it becomes translucent.
  • Stir in 2 minced garlic cloves and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet. Cook it for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart until it’s browned throughout. Season with salt, pepper, and 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning.
  • Mix in 1 can (14.5 ounces) of crushed tomatoes. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Lower the heat and slowly stir in ½ cup of heavy cream, simmering for another 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Meanwhile, boil salted water in a separate pot and cook 1 cup of orzo according to the package instructions (8-10 minutes). Drain the orzo and add it to the skillet.
  • Toss everything together in the skillet until the orzo is fully coated with the creamy sauce.
  • Plate the dish hot, garnished with fresh basil and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.
