Equipment

  • Large non-stick skillet
  • Slotted utensil

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 large plantains extra ripe, peeled and sliced on a bias
  • ½ cup vegetable oil or any neutral oil

Fried Sweet Plantain seasoning

  • ½ teaspoon Creole Cajun Seasoning homemade or store-bought, optional
  • ½ teaspoon packed brown sugar optional

Instructions

Cooking Steps

  • Slice the plantains on a bias, about ½-inch thick and set aside.
  • Heat the oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the plantain slices in batches and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  • Reduce heat if plantains are browning too quickly. Fry until caramelized on the outside with a buttery center.
  • Remove the fried plantains onto a paper towel-lined plate. Season if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

Use neutral oils like Canola, Avocado, and Grapeseed for best results.
