For the Cinnamon Swirl

  • ½ cup granulated sugar Essential for sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon A key flavor in the cake.

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar Can make own using granulated sugar.
  • 2 tablespoon milk Non-dairy milk can be used.

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for even baking.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, large eggs, sour cream, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the swirl.
  • Pour half of the prepared batter into a greased baking pan, spread strawberry preserves on top, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture, then add the remaining batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes. Check with a toothpick to ensure it's done.
  • In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and optional vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust milk for desired consistency.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely before glazing to maintain a shiny finish.
