Ingredients
  

Crust

  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • cup brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • cups all-purpose flour

Filling

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • scant ½ teaspoon salt
  • cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Topping

  • ¾ cup milk chocolate chips
  • flaky finishing salt optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and line an 8×8 metal baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat together softened butter, brown sugar, salt, and flour until crumbly. Press firmly into the pan and bake for 15 minutes.
  • In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, honey, heavy cream, and salt over medium heat until bubbling. Stir in vanilla extract and coconut.
  • Pour the filling over the crust and bake for an additional 12 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Melt the chocolate chips and drizzle over cooled bars; let set before slicing.
